Income Tax Exemption

All donations to Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, in general, are exempted under the 50% clause of the Section 80G of Income-tax Act in India

Donation is exempted under section 80G(1)(ii) read with section 80G(4) as the institution (Ramakrishna Math along with its branch centres; Ramakrishna Mission along with its branch centres) got approval order under section 80G(5)(vi) read with section 80G(2)(a)(iv) of the Income-tax Act, 1961. 

50% of the donation amount is deducted (maximum ceiling 10% of gross total income) from total income (Category 80GD as per ITR form).

  • Donations made from Capital Gains (profit on sale of property, equity share, redemption proceeds or selling of mutual funds, etc) are not eligible for exemption under these sections.
  • Only donations made in cash, cheque, bank transfer, online transfer are eligible for deductions. Donations made in kind, in the form of food, clothing, medicines etc are not eligible.
  • Cash donations above Rs. 2000/- in a financial year (from FY 2017-18) are not eligible for exemption under these sections. We request you to consult your income-tax advisor in this respect.

The Income-tax PAN is usually mentioned in the Donation Receipt itself.

The PAN Name of the Institution would be either Ramakrishna Math or Ramakrishna Mission. Please check the donation receipt. If it is a branch centre, the same is declared in the Donation Receipt itself (just below the branch centre name).
